Nissa's journey into health and wellness was initiated by an injury she had as a young aspiring concert pianist. Following a significant emotional trauma in high school her senior year, she struggled with depression and anxiety as a response. Without treatment, she enrolled at a high pressured music conservatory. For the first time, she realized how powerfully connected the mind and emotions were to the body and started to notice chronic physical tension and somatic problems began to develop. Practicing for hours a day in this stressed state eventually led to a repetitive strain injury in her right hand. It felt like an uphill battle to find the mental focus and put in the physical hours when her mind and body were both injured. In hindsight, after Nissa took a leave and sought help from various professionals to treat both her mind and body, she learned so much about health and wellness that textbooks alone could never teach. She also discovered her own passion for the healing arts. Her injuries marked the turning point when she left music behind and decided to make the human body her instrument.
Nissa is now the proud CEO and founder of YOUU-NESS. She has been a bodyworker for 17 years and is passionate about helping clients find relief from injuries, chronic pain and tension. She is full body certified in Active Release Technique and Nerve Entrapment and blends ART® with Deep Tissue Massage to increase mobility and treat overuse injuries. Her clients are often athletes needing sports recovery, service workers, desk workers, and people from all walks rehabbing from injuries. She loves to see people get better everyday.
When Nissa is not in the office, she enjoys backpacking, hiking, creating art, traveling, and spending time with her husband Tom, corgi (Mocha), and her kids Kim and Lindsay.
Cameron found his way to the central coast from Lake Tahoe where he was one of five brothers. Growing up, he was a two sport athlete and played basketball and football throughout high school. During that time, he learned about some sports recovery methods and maintenance for his body (i.e. stretching) but was not connected to it on a deeper level. He was curious. Naturally, Cameron would give his friends and family massages and as a child, his friend's mother (who was a massage therapist) noticed he had a special talent with his hands and encouraged him to pursue a career in bodywork.
After high school, Cameron was drawn to study manual therapy from a treatment perspective and ended up completing his schooling in massage therapy and bodywork. During school, he was inspired by his instructor who was an expert in anatomy and neurology. He continues to be passionate about learning more about movement and all things related to the human body.
Cameron has a unique style blending a firm and effective touch with movement, stretches, signature percussive moves, and joint mobilization. He especially enjoys working with people invested in their own self growth and healing and has an interest in working with athletes and people dealing with pain and injury.
When Cameron is not working, he can be found hiking, camping, playing basketball and other sports. He also enjoys the creative process of working with biomedical engineers on product development of ergonomical devices. He hopes to travel the world and loves to be in nature whenever he can. Cameron is also the proud father of Eli, a handsome Pit Lab mix!
Summer discovered her love for helping people move better and feel amazing in their bodies after experiencing her own challenges. After tearing her ACL as a teenager playing high school volleyball, she felt physically disconnected to herself. Reconstructive surgery was required and she endured months and months of rehabilitation. At one point, Summer was even convinced she'd never walk again let alone play volleyball. That is where her journey toward becoming a bodyworker began.
After working with a physical therapist, personal trainer, and massage therapist over 9 months, she was inspired by the relationships she built with the team of professionals that helped her recover. Not only did she get to walk again, she returned to high school and made 1st Team All-League! Summer now sees her injury as a blessing in disguise that helped spark her passion for the rehabilitation world. She believes that she found her calling to help as many people optimize how they feel in their own skin.
Summer is a health advocate, educator, and enthusiast. She is originally from Southern California and completed a degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science from Humboldt State Universitybefore before pursuing a career in massage therapy and bodywork. In college, she worked in a Human Performance Lab testing muscular endurance and completed an internship with the athletic training department working in injury prevention and rehabilitation.
When Summer is not at the office, you might find her rollerblading, playing volleyball, disc golf, listening to a podcast on health and wellness, hanging out with friends, or having fun in the kitchen!
